
Sekou Odinga
Sekou Odinga (born June 17, 1944, originally Nathanial Odinga) is a prominent American activist and former member of the Black Panther Party. Active in the New York chapter during the late 1960s and 1970s, he participated in community service programs including free breakfast initiatives and healthcare projects. Arrested in 1981 on robbery charges, he was convicted and spent over 30 years in prison before being released on parole in 2014. Odinga has continued his activism for racial equality and social justice following his release.
