Alonzo Mourning, born on February 8, 1970, is a retired American professional basketball player. Known for his exceptional defensive skills and scoring ability in the paint, Mourning played for the Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks during his NBA career. He was selected as the first overall pick in the 1992 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in his rookie season.
