Ruth Davidson (born November 10, 1978) is a Scottish politician who served as leader of the Scottish Conservative Party from 2011 to 2019. Known for her moderate conservative views and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, she became the first openly gay leader of a major UK political party. Under her leadership, the Scottish Conservatives achieved historic gains in the 2016 and 2017 Scottish Parliament elections, becoming the largest opposition party.
