Steve Yzerman, born May 9, 1965 in North Bay, Ontario, is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey center who spent his entire 23-year NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings. Known as "The Captain," he served as team captain for a record 20 years (1986-2006), the longest in NHL history. A three-time Stanley Cup champion (1997, 1998, 2002), he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 1998 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009. more
