Zilda Arns (1934-2010) was a renowned Brazilian pediatrician and human rights activist who founded the Pastoral da Criança (Child Pastoral), one of Brazil's largest child welfare organizations. She was nominated multiple times for the Nobel Peace Prize for her dedication to improving the health and well-being of impoverished children. On January 12, 2010, she died in the Haiti earthquake while conducting humanitarian work, at age 75. more
