Sam Dunn (born March 20, 1974) is a Canadian anthropologist, music journalist, and documentary filmmaker known for his in-depth study of heavy metal music. He earned a degree in anthropology from the University of Victoria and pursued graduate studies at the University of British Columbia. Dunn co-directed and produced the documentary "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" (2005), which examines the cultural and social impact of heavy metal. He also created "Global Metal" (2008) and "Metal Evolution" (2011), using an anthropological lens to analyze the global spread of metal subculture.
