“Mohammed was a narcissist and egoist, determined that no one else should ever rival his glory and importance and so he deliberately set out to make it impossible for any Muslim to surpass him. It was very clever for Mohammed to call himself the seal of prophets and thus for the Koran to be the last word – cutting off any future changes, and making Mohammed’s elevated status as God’s messenger permanent. “«ولد محمد في مكة عام 570 م من عائلة ذات مركز حسن، ولكن أباه مات قبل ولادته، كما ماتت أمه عندما كان في السادسة من عمره.. وفي السنوات الأولى من سني المراهقة كان يعمل راعياً.. وعندما بلغ السابعة عشرة من عمره ذهب إلى سوريا مع عمٍّ له (1.. في تاريخ الطبري أنه كان في الثانية عشرة من عمره) بقصد التجارة – وعندما أصبح في الرابعة والعشرين كان ينوب عن أرملة غنية – هي السيدة خديجة – في السفر بقافلتها التجارية، وبعد عام آخر؛ أي في عام /595/م تزوج تلك الأرملة التي كانت في الأربعين من عمرها، وكانت قد تزوجت قبل ذلك مرتين، ولها من زوجيها السابقين ولدان وبنت(2.. كان أكبرهم في سن الزواج عند اقتران النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بخديجة) وولدت له هذه الأرملة ولدين ماتا عندما كانا طفلين، وأربع بنات. وفي السنوات الواقعة بين عامي /595-610/ م كان محمد تاجراً محترماً في مكة، وكان يلقب بالأمين نظراً لما اتصف به من صدق وحكمة في أحكامه» - د. رالف لنتون في كتابه (شجرة الحضارة).
