“Adam rozlišoval skoré a neskoré dni v týždni. Skoré sú vlastne len dva, pondelok a utorok, pričom druhý akoby bol skorý iba ráno, do dvanástej hodiny, potom je už veľmi blízko streda. Potom sa ukáže piatok, ktorý je v pondelok ráno v takej diaľke, až sa zdá, že za ním nemôžu byť ďalšie dni: sobota a nedeľa. Akoby tam boli iba zo zvyku, akoby tým koncom týždňa bol naozaj piatok. Z tohto pohľadu sa potom sobota a nedeľa javia ako prvé skoré dni ďalšieho týždňa, čím sa z pondelka a utorka stávajú akési čudné dni, topiace sa v rozpakoch, ba možno aj v plači, lebo nevedia, kde sú: začiatok im niekto ukradol a koniec je ďaleko.”
