“Eleu stood up straight and turned to face them. “If promises are made, maybe we can come to an agreement.” Molawa nodded seriously. “Promises?” Kilikina thought for a moment. “Okay. What kind of promises are you thinking of?” Eleu hopped up on the largish boulder that sat beside him and plopped down. He solemnly put one hand up in the air and spoke slowly and seriously. “One. You must promise not to fall in love with me.” Kilikina started to giggle then put her hand over her mouth. “He’s serious.” Molawa said, “I had to promise the same thing.” — James Eldridge
