Quote by Kevin L. Michel

“To cultivate harmony between ego and essence is to walk the middle path, a path of balance and unity, where the light of the essence illuminates the shadows cast by the ego, and the ego, in turn, grounds us in the physical world we inhabit. This is the path of true self-mastery, a journey that leads to the inner sanctum of peace and the outer expression of our highest potential. It is in this sacred alignment that we find our true selves, not as fragmented beings of light and shadow, but as whole, integrated beings, dancing in the eternal light of harmony.”

“As the annual parade was going by, I would lean into Mom and say, “Someday I want to be in a parade.” And Mom would lean over, point at the parade going by and ask, “What would you want to do if you were in the parade?” “I don’t know,” I would excitedly reply. “I just want to be in a parade!” And it wasn’t until I was far into adulthood that I realized that I simply wanted to be part of a mass of people galvanized by a commitment to create a moment of light and joy for a hurting humanity. Therefore, wherever it might be, we need to remember that there is an empty parade route lined with hurting people who are begging us to join a parade.”

“We are indeed children of Light. What an endless mart goes on in the Light. In the Light is our sleeping and waking, the play of our life and death. Beneath one great canopy, in the ray of one great sun, slowly, very slowly, burn the unnumbered lamps of life. In the midst of this unending Light I lose myself; amidst this intolerable radiance I wander like one blind. We are indeed children of Light. Why then do we fear when we see the Light? Come, let us look all around and see, here no man hath cause for any fear. In this boundless ocean of Light, if a tiny lamp goes out, let it go; who can say that it will not burn again?”

“It was a short walk from the bridge to the waterfall, and I heard it long before I actually saw it, a loud, roaring sound that reverberated like rolling thunder. We passed under an outcropping of rock, and then there it was on the other side. Quixotic Falls. It took my breath away. The waterfall was so tall, I had to crane my neck to see the top of it. Shimmers of a rainbow reflected in the mist and sunlight, and the air was cool and damp. It felt good in the humidity of the afternoon. I closed my eyes, and enjoyed the mist that clung to my skin, coagulating into droplets. We walked along the underside of it, and the sunlight hit the falling water like it was glimmers of glass. The tunnel between the rock face and the waterfall was smooth and rounded from thousands of years of erosion. Vines crawled across the rocks--- morning glories and four o'clocks and honeysuckles. The waterfall poured down into a small watering hole that then slowly wormed its way into a larger river down the mountain. I knew this place would feel whimsical. Surrounding the swimming hole, the bright pink heather and stark white yarrow mixed with coneflowers and black-eyed Susans.”
