“The sunset looks so beautiful from here. Doesn’t it?” I asked. She looked at the setting sun far away with a sad smile. “Isn’t it strange how the world can see beauty in something that is losing itself to darkness?” I wasn’t sure if it was her husky voice or the depth of her words that pulled me to her. “What’s wrong with darkness?” I asked, sitting at a distance on the same boulder. Her deep hazel eyes narrowed on me before she diverted her attention back to the endless sea. “Probably nothing…” I thought that was it, but after a moment, she added, “as far as it’s not within us.” — Alka Dimri Saklani
