Ariel Durant was a distinguished American historian and philosopher, co-authoring the multi-volume work 'The Story of Civilization' with his wife, Will Durant. Their collaborative effort, spanning over 30 years, covered the history of humankind from ancient times to the 20th century. Born on May 10, 1898, in Chicago, Illinois, Durant attended the University of Chicago and earned a degree in philosophy. He began his career in writing and publishing, contributing to various magazines and newspapers. In 1927, he married Will Durant, and together they embarked on their monumental project. Durant passed away on October 25, 1981.
