'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As
Abu Muhammad 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As al-Sahmi al-Qurashi was a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the son of the commander Amr ibn al-As. He embraced Islam in 7 AH, before his father, and became known for learning, worship, and hadith transmission. He was one of the earliest companions permitted to write down hadith, and the collection associated with him, al-Sahifah al-Sadiqah, is often described as an early hadith compilation containing about one thousand narrations. He briefly succeeded his father as governor of Egypt in early 664 and is counted among the learned Abadillah among the companions.
