Cornelia Fort, born in 1919, was an outstanding female aviator. She achieved numerous accomplishments in her flying career, including becoming the first woman to receive the Gold Medal from the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom. Tragically, she disappeared during a flight mission on March 21, 1943.
