
Pumpsie Green
Pumpsie Green (born October 27, 1933) is an American professional baseball player who played as an infielder. He is best known as the first African American player for the Boston Red Sox, breaking the team's color barrier in 1959. His MLB career spanned from 1959 to 1963, playing for the Red Sox and the New York Mets. Green's debut marked the integration of the last MLB team to field a Black player, holding significant historical importance.
