Elias Lyman Magoon was an American writer who made significant contributions to children's literature. Born on October 20, 1810, in New York, he spent much of his life in the Midwest, particularly in Illinois and Iowa. Magoon is renowned for his role as an editor and publisher, as well as for his own children's books, which were popular in the late 19th century.
