
Frederick William Thomas
Frederick William Thomas (1806-1866) was an American writer, journalist, and poet active in the mid-19th century. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he initially studied law before turning to literature and journalism. Thomas is best known for his novels and poems that often explored American society, history, and Southern life. His notable works include 'Clinton Bradshaw' and 'East and West.' He worked as an editor for several newspapers and contributed to the development of American literature during the transition from Romanticism to Realism. Thomas spent his later years in Washington, D.C., where he died in 1866.
