Fan Zhongyan, also known as Fan Wen Zheng, was a prominent politician and litterateur during the Northern Song Dynasty. Born in 989 and died in 1052, Fan Zhongyan advocated for political reforms, emphasizing frugality and opposing extravagance, which had a significant impact on the political reforms of the mid-Northern Song period. In literature, he was known for his poetry, ci (a form of lyric poetry), and prose, especially his political satirical poems, and was honored as 'Fan Wen Zhengong'.
