Fa Xian, born and died between 337 and 422 AD, was an ancient Chinese Buddhist traveler and translator. Limited information is available, but Fa Xian, during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, embarked on a journey to India to seek Buddhist scriptures, endured hardships, and eventually successfully brought back a large number of Buddhist texts, which had a profound impact on the spread of Buddhism in later generations.
