He revolutionized the role of electric bass in jazz, pioneering it as a solo instrument. As a key member of Chick Corea's Return to Forever, Clarke's album "School Days" became a jazz fusion classic. The four-time Grammy Award winner is often called the "Father of Electric Bass," having profoundly influenced generations of bass players worldwide.
