Victor Mature was an American film actor who rose to fame during Hollywood's Golden Age, known for his handsome looks and distinctive deep voice. Born on January 29, 1913, in Louisville, Kentucky, he began his career on stage before transitioning to cinema in the 1940s. Mature starred in numerous successful films including "The Robe," "Kiss Me Kate," and "The Big Clock," becoming one of the most popular box office draws of his era. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II before returning to his acting career. After declining roles in the late 1970s, he retired from acting and passed away on August 4, 1999, in Beverly Hills, California, at age 86.
