Joseph Christian Leyendecker (1874–1951) was a pioneering American illustrator and painter who defined the visual culture of early 20th-century America. As the most prolific cover artist in Saturday Evening Post history, he created 322 covers between 1907 and 1943, shaping the nation's aesthetic sensibilities for over four decades. He is best celebrated for creating the iconic "Arrow Collar Man," a sophisticated gentleman figure that became one of the most successful advertising characters in American history.
