
Tom Udall
Tom Udall is an American Democratic politician who served as a U.S. Senator from New Mexico from 2009 to 2021. Prior to his Senate tenure, he served as a U.S. Representative from New Mexico's 3rd congressional district from 1999 to 2009 and as New Mexico's Attorney General from 1991 to 1999. He is a member of the prominent Udall political family, with his father Stewart Udall having served as U.S. Secretary of the Interior. During his Senate career, Udall was recognized for his advocacy on environmental protection, campaign finance reform, and Native American affairs. He announced his retirement in 2019 due to health concerns and did not seek re-election in 2020.
