Transitioning to filmmaking, he directed the survival thriller "Arctic" (2018), starring Mads Mikkelsen, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. His follow-up, "Stowaway" (2021), is a sci-fi drama set on a spaceship. Penna is known for minimalist storytelling and exploring human resilience in extreme conditions.
