Vincent Voiture
Vincent Voiture (February 24, 1597 – May 26, 1648) was a French poet, essayist, and socialite, renowned for his witty and elegant writing style. He was a key figure in the early French classical literature, particularly known for his letters and short poems that humorously depicted court and social life. Born in Amiens to a bourgeois family, he received a good education and later became a regular at the literary salon of the Marquise de Rambouillet in Paris. His works, though limited in number, are celebrated for their refined language and satirical charm, influencing the development of epistolary literature and social poetry. Voiture's legacy endures as a representative of salon culture in 17th-century France.
