Kool DJ Herc, born Clive Campbell, is a Jamaican-American DJ and music producer, born on April 16, 1955. He is one of the pioneers of hip-hop music, renowned for his DJing techniques at parties in the Bronx, New York, in the 1970s. Kool DJ Herc is credited with creating the foundation of hip-hop music by breaking down songs into smaller parts, known as breaks.
