Larry Doby was an American professional baseball player who became the first African American to play in the American League. Born on December 13, 1923, in Camden, South Carolina, Doby played for the Cleveland Indians from 1947 to 1954. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998. Doby passed away on June 18, 2003.
