Margaret Floy Washburn was an outstanding psychologist known for her contributions to cognitive psychology and animal psychology. Born on July 25, 1871, and passing away on October 29, 1939, she was the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in psychology and the first to hold a professorship in psychology at Harvard University.
