Martin Charnin (born November 24, 1934) was an American lyricist, songwriter, and author, best known for writing the lyrics to the Broadway musical Annie (1977). He won the Tony Award for Best Original Score for Annie, which became one of the most successful musicals in Broadway history. Charnin was also a director, author, and professor, contributing significantly to American theater throughout his career.
