Martin Niemöller was a German pastor who became famous for his opposition to the Nazi regime during the Nazi era. Niemöller was imprisoned in 1937 and spent time in Dachau concentration camp. After World War II, he remained active in political and religious circles, becoming an important figure in the post-war democratic reconstruction of Germany.
