Mary Surratt was an American woman who lived from 1823 to July 7, 1865. She is recognized for her part in the conspiracy to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln. Surratt ran a boardinghouse in Washington, D.C., which served as a hideout for the conspirators. She was apprehended, tried, and executed for her complicity in the plot.
