Meriwether Lewis was an American explorer, renowned for leading the Lewis and Clark Expedition across the American frontier from 1804 to 1806. Born on August 18, 1774, and deceased on October 11, 1809, Lewis played a pivotal role in the exploration and mapping of the American West.
