Richard Chamberlain, born March 31, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, is an acclaimed American actor best known for his role as Dr. James Kildare in the television series "Dr. Kildare" (1961-1966). The show made him one of the most popular television stars of the 1960s, earning him the nickname "the TV Prince" and establishing him as a cultural icon. Chamberlain also starred in the miniseries "The Thorn Birds" (1983), portraying Father Ralph de Bricassart, for which he received an Emmy nomination.
