Paul Castellano, born on June 26, 1915, in Naples, Italy, was assassinated on December 16, 1985, in New York City. He was the boss of the Gambino crime family, one of the five major families of the American Mafia, and was known as the 'Godfather of the Gambino Family'. Castellano was one of the most powerful crime bosses in New York during the 1970s and early 1980s.
