Pietro Perugino (c. 1446-1523) was a prominent Italian Renaissance painter and founder of the Umbrian school. Born as Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci in Città della Pieve, Umbria, he became renowned as the teacher of Raphael. His elegant, graceful style and mastery of fresco technique made him one of the most influential painters of his era. His notable works include "The Delivery of the Keys" in the Sistine Chapel and "The Baptism of Christ". Perugino was among the first Italian artists to master oil painting techniques, significantly contributing to the development of Renaissance art.
