
Lee Atwater
Lee Atwater (February 27, 1951 – March 29, 1991) was an influential American political consultant and Republican strategist known for his aggressive campaign tactics. He served as the chief strategist for George H.W. Bush's successful 1988 presidential campaign. Atwater was renowned for his 'slash and burn' political approach and was credited with helping shape modern Republican campaign strategy in the 1980s. He died at age 40 from a brain tumor.
