Richard Alley (born 1957) is a prominent American geologist and climate scientist, and a professor at Penn State University. He is renowned for his pioneering research on ice sheet dynamics and paleoclimatology, particularly through the study of ice cores from Antarctica and Greenland, which have revealed critical insights into Earth's climate history. A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Alley has received numerous honors, including the National Medal of Science.
