Richard Jewell was an American police officer born on December 17, 1962, and died on August 29, 2007. He became famous for his heroic actions during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when he successfully prevented a bomb explosion, but later was accused of being the bomber, facing a series of legal disputes and public opinion storms.
