Rinus Michels (February 9, 1928 – March 3, 2005) was a Dutch football player and coach, widely regarded as the father of Total Football. As a player, he spent most of his career at Ajax, scoring over 120 goals. As a coach, he led Ajax to the 1971 European Cup and guided the Netherlands to the 1974 World Cup final. His tactical innovations revolutionized modern football.
