Roberta Bondar is Canada's first female astronaut, a physician, neurobiologist, and renowned photographer. Born on December 4, 1945, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, she made history in 1992 as the first Canadian woman in space aboard NASA's Discovery shuttle (STS-42). With MD and PhD degrees, she has made significant contributions to space medicine and science education.
