Ruth Hubbard (March 3, 1924 - September 1, 2016) was an American biochemist and pioneering feminist scientist. Born in Vienna, Austria, she emigrated to the United States to escape Nazi persecution. Hubbard became the first woman to hold a full professorship in biology at Harvard University. She made significant contributions to biochemistry and molecular biology while also championing women's participation in science. Her influential book "The Politics of Women's Biology" challenged traditional views on gender and science, making her a foundational figure in feminist science studies.
