S. Z. Sakall (1883-1955) was a Hungarian-born American film actor who became a familiar face in Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s. Originally trained in law, he turned to acting and worked in Hungarian and Austrian cinema before moving to Hollywood in the mid-1930s. He appeared in classic films such as "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936) and "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938), often playing comedic character roles with his distinctive appearance featuring thick eyebrows and a rotund figure. He died in Los Angeles on February 12, 1955, at age 72.
