
Hugh Dowding, 1st Baron Dowding
British Air Marshal, the founder of the British Air Force defense system. Born on April 24, 1882, in the United Kingdom, he died on February 15, 1970. During World War I, he served as the commanding officer of the Royal Flying Corps and successfully organized the defense of the British Air Force. During World War II, he led the British Air Force and successfully defended against German air raids.
