Sean Kinney (born May 27, 1966) is an American musician best known as the drummer and co-founder of the grunge band Alice in Chains. He is recognized for his powerful and rhythmic drumming style, as well as his contributions to the band's classic albums. Kinney began his music career in the 1980s and helped shape the distinctive sound of grunge. Beyond drumming, he has been involved in visual art and band imagery. After the band's hiatus due to the death of lead singer Layne Staley, Kinney returned with the reformed lineup, continuing to influence rock music.
