Shane McConkey (December 30, 1969 – March 26, 2009) was an American freestyle skier, extreme sports pioneer, and filmmaker. He is best known for combining alpine skiing with base jumping, creating the new sport of ski wingsuit flying. McConkey excelled in freestyle skiing, big air, and backcountry skiing, winning multiple X Games gold medals. His innovative spirit and fearless attitude profoundly influenced the development of extreme sports, earning him the title of 'skiing legend.' He died in 2009 during a ski wingsuit filming in Italy at age 39.
