Sitaram Yechury (born August 12, 1952) is an Indian politician and a senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI(M). He served as the General Secretary of CPI(M) from 2015 to 2022 and has been a member of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament) multiple times. Known for his oratory skills and Marxist ideological expertise, Yechury has been a prominent voice for left-wing politics in India, advocating for workers', farmers', and marginalized communities' rights.
