Steve Mann (born 1962) is a Canadian-American computer scientist, inventor, and author, widely recognized as the "Father of Wearable Computing." Since the 1970s, he has pioneered research in wearable technology and human-computer interaction, inventing early devices like digital glasses and smartwatches. Mann earned his PhD from the MIT Media Lab and later taught at the University of Toronto. His work has profoundly influenced augmented reality, privacy protection, and computer vision. He is also known for the "Quantified Self" movement and the concept of "mediated reality," promoting the integration of technology into daily life.
