
Sharon Pratt Kelly
Sharon Pratt Kelly (born January 30, 1944) is an American politician who served as the mayor of Washington, D.C. from 1991 to 1995. She was the first African American woman to hold this office. Known for her reformist agenda, she focused on government efficiency and fiscal responsibility. During her tenure, she faced economic challenges and rising crime rates. A graduate of Howard University School of Law, she previously worked in law and community service. After leaving office, she remained active in public affairs and philanthropy.
