Thubten Chodron (born September 18, 1950) is an American Buddhist nun, author, and teacher renowned for promoting Tibetan Buddhism and interfaith dialogue. Born in Los Angeles as Cherry Greene, she was ordained in 1977 under the Dalai Lama. She is the founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey in Washington State, the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery for Western women in the United States. Chodron has authored popular books like Buddhism for Beginners and Working with Anger, and co-authored Buddhism: One Teacher, Many Traditions with the Dalai Lama.
