Timothy Thomas Fortune was an American journalist, editor, and civil rights activist. Born on October 3, 1856, and died on June 2, 1928, Fortune played a significant role in the American press and civil rights movement. He founded the first national newspaper for African Americans, The Crisis, and made significant contributions to the civil rights and social justice movements of his time.
